Day Hike Oct. 11 or 12

Climbing about 1,800 feet to just below timberline, the Bear Jaw (Tr.26) Abineau (Tr.127) loop threads its way through aspens and avalanche debris on the north side of Humphrey's Peak north of Flagstaff.

The hike is about 7 miles and views extend north to the Grand Canyon, east to the Painted Desert, and south to the summit of Humphrey's Peak, Arizona's highest point.

This hike is for ages 18 and up and will take place on Sat., Oct. 11 OR Sun., Oct. 13 from 8 a.m. to approximately 5 p.m. Participants will meet at the Civic Center flag pole. Registration Deadline: Oct. 6. Space is limited for this free activity.

Fall Tennis Camp

The Town of Prescott Valley Parks & Recreation Department is offering a Fall Tennis Camp at the Bradshaw Mountain High School west campus. This Tennis Camp will provide the aspiring player quality tennis instruction and is scheduled for October 6-10. Cost: $30 for five days of camp and a total of 10 hours of instruction. Camp hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the outdoor courts. Kids 6 to 17 are invited to play! Registration Deadline: September 29. Gold Fever Daze

The Town of Prescott Valley Parks & Recreation Department invites the public to celebrate Gold Fever Daze at Fain Park, 2200 North 5th Street in Prescott Valley on Saturday, October 11.

Join us for a day of history-based fun and "Old West" themed activities. The Prescott Regulators and their Shady Ladies will be on hand for authentic western performances and shoot outs! Food, arts & crafts vendors, gold panning, fishing, Civil War battles and cowboys on horseback shooting exhibitions, and walking tours. Activities begin at 8 a.m. with a free Fishing Clinic kids and will continue through 5 p.m. Bluegrass Festival at 1 p.m. No entrance fee! Souvenirs and refreshments will be available for purchase.
