Cattle Growers sale, BBQ is Sept. 28

The Yavapai Cattle Grower's Association 81st Annual Calf Sale & BBQ will be Saturday, Sept. 28. Activities begin with the Maughan Ranches Quarterhorse sale at 8 a.m. A 4-H and FFA Livestock Judging Clinic will be provided by the University of Arizona Livestock Judging Team. Western art, crafts, and jewelry, and industry information booths will open at 9 a.m. Arizona Game & Fish in cooperation with Adobe Mountain Wildlife Rehab Center is providing a sport shooting trailer and an Arizona Wildlife Display. In addition there will be mutton busting (for kids 60 pounds and under, weigh-in begins at 10 a.m.), a KVRD radio live remote with "Mark in the Morning," the historic Yavapai Cowbelles Scholarship Brand Quilt drawing and the BBQ beef lunch.

Take a scenic drive to Peeples Valley, bring a chair or blanket, spend the day at a historic ranch, meet a real cowboy, enjoy the BBQ beef, and get to know your local, county, and state politicians and candidates. From Prescott take Highway 89 30 miles to Peeples Valley and Maughan Ranch West Fork. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
