Parks and Rec offers classes

Geocaching: using a map and compass and to find a "treasure." Ages 10-15 are welcome from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, to learn the basics of geocaching and spend the day at local Prescott Valley Parks and Green space.

Cost is $15. Bring a sack lunch and water bottle. Workshop will meet in room 331 of the Prescott Valley Civic Center. Pre-registration is required by Aug. 21. Register online at www.pvaz.net> or call 928-759-3090 for more information.

Start Smart Soccer: prepares girls and boys ages 3-5 for the world of organized sports without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Parents work together with their children in a supportive environment to learn all of the basic skills. Classes take place at Sunflower Park from 6-6:45 p.m. Tuesdays starting Aug. 20 through Sept. 17. Cost is $30. Registration includes soccer ball and shin guards. Preregistration is required one week prior to start of session.

Corntoss (bean bag toss) is the newest league to hit Prescott Valley Parks and Recreation. The league for ages 12 and up meets from 6 - 7 p.m. Thursdays on the Civic Center grounds. Play is best of three. League will finish with single elimination tournament. League champion will receive free team entry into Fall Festival Corntoss Tournament on Oct. 12. Sessions Aug. 15-Sept. 26. Cost is $30/team.

Fall Festival Corntoss tourney cost is $100/2-person team, unless team supplies its own board, then $80. Round robin seeding and double elimination. Cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and "Best Themed Team."
