A full-day, evidence-based curriculum known as Mental Health First Aid has been offered locally free of charge since October 2013, and since then 175 adults have completed the course.

Flag dedication at PV Military Monument

The Prescott Valley Military Monument Committee invites the public to join them at 8 a.m., Sunday, May 30, at the monument site near the Civic Center, for a formal flag dedication. The Honor Guard from the American Legion Post 6 will open the ceremony.

The Backburner Café in Prescott Valley is the place this Friday for a spaghetti dinner and silent auction fundraiser for the Voltage 18-and-under competitive softball team.

The Voltage, an Amateur Softball Club Team, is made up of girls from the Quad-city area.

Summer bread baking class

Prescott College Chef Molly Beverly will teach the college's first Adult Cooking Camp this summer. The week-long camp on Breads Around the World runs from 6 to 9 p.m., June 28 through July 2, at the Crossroads Café, located behind the college's main buildings, 220 Grove Ave., Prescott.

The class will cover cooking breads, and the foods that traditionally go with them, from the Middle East, China, India, Europe, and the Americas.

Yavapai Kennel Club Fun dog show on May 16

The Yavapai Kennel Club hosts its first Fun Match for all breeds and mixed breed dogs on Sunday, May 16, at Antelope Park in Prescott Valley.

The match features Conformation classes for purebred dogs, and Obedience and Rally Obedience for purebred and mixed breed dogs.

PV cleanup days Friday, Saturday

The Prescott Valley town government has scheduled its annual spring cleanup for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 30 and May 1.

The town is accepting yard clippings, furniture, other household items and recyclable trash, which includes old appliances, newspapers, plastic containers and aluminum.

Residents of Dewey-Humboldt and the general public have two opportunities to participate in a community outreach and information gathering meeting with the Open Space and Trails Advisory Committee today - the first at 10 a.m. at Sandra and Earl Goodwin's home, 14525 E. Eagle Drive, Dewey; and also at 6:30 p.m. in the J.W. Mitchell Room, lower level of the D-H Town Library.

Prescott Valley Little League opening is Saturday

Baseball fields around Prescott Valley and Dewey-Humobldt will resound with the crack of the bat this Saturday as local Little Leagues start their 2010 season.

Opening ceremonies for Prescott Valley Little League are from 10-11 a.m. at Mountain Valley Park, with games following for the rest of the day, including a 3-way T-ball game.

Each of the PV league's 14 baseball and three softball teams have put together a gift basket (value at least $35) to raffle.

L.E.D. business signage meeting is tonight

The Town of Prescott Valley is opening a dialogue with the business community on how best to provide Light Emitting Diode (LED) signage. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 31, from 6 - 7:30 p.m. in the Crystal Meeting Room (3rd floor) of the Prescott Valley Public Library.

The Town has invited a number of sign companies to provide information and examples of how LED signs can be used most effectively. Any changes to the Town's sign ordinance would require adoption by the Town Council and this meeting is meant to gather public input.

Bluegrass Gospel Band to perform Sunday

Mountain View Baptist Church is in its second year of hosting fun, family entertainment at their Gospel Concerts on the last Sunday afternoon of each month at 5:30 p.m.

Whistle Stop performs on March 28, and consists of the Pearse family: mom and dad, Carol and Greg Pearson, and two daughters, Brittany, 20, and Briana, 17. They are a traditional bluegrass/gospel band with the unique sound of three female vocalists.
