Put the 'give' in Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving for most of us means a big feast, a football game or two, and visiting with family and friends. We expect it, and we don't usually worry too much about how we'll buy the food for the meal.

Unfortunately, too many people in our community worry a lot, not only about putting a feast on the table at Thanksgiving, but obtaining the barest of essentials for their families every day.

In the biggest effort in Prescott Valley, volunteers have worked tirelessly through the holidays to provide an abundant meal for at least one day for these families. The Chamber of Commerce's Flying High Turkey Drive took place on Monday, and the donated turkeys will go to the Yavapai Food Bank for inclusion in food baskets packed by members of Living Faith Christian Center.

While the turkeys and donated food items will go a long way to help during Thanksgiving, the need doesn't go away. Yavapai Food Bank desperately needs help to keep the shelves full through the holidays and beyond for those in need.

This year, put some "give" to the gratitude you feel about having food to eat and a place to live. Call the Yavapai Food Bank at 928-775-5255 and donate what you can to help those who have less.
