Bradshaw tennis coach promises win over Prescott

Bradshaw Mountain head girls' tennis coach Joe Borzello believes the team's losses in its match at Prescott this past Friday could have gone either way. On Monday he was certain the Lady Bears could correct their mistakes in Tuesday's rematch in Prescott Valley, which took place after the Tribune's press time.

"When they come to our place Tuesday, I'm reporting the score as Bradshaw 6-3, or possibly 5-4, but I'm guaranteeing a victory," Borzello said.

The Lady Badgers did not blow out any of the Lady Bears with their 6-3 team victory Friday.

Bradshaw's wins came from No. 1 singles player Delaina Harris, 6-2, 7-5; No. 3 Cassidy Ball, who took her match to three sets, 6-4, 3-6, and a 10-6 tiebreaker; and No. 1 doubles team Harris and Athena Bowman, 8-3.

Sarah Peakman lost a nailbiter of a No. 2 match, 6-4, 7-6.

"It was a great match - the best she's ever played," Borzello said.

Playing No. 4, Athena Bowman lost 6-3, 7-5, and at No. 5, Alyssa Turner battled to a 6-2, 0-6, 9-11 loss.

In No. 2 doubles, Ball and Turner, lost 8-2. Teaming up for the first time at No. 3, Peakman and Rebecca Perry lost 8-4.

Bradshaw's ladies have a busy week, traveling to Cottonwood to take on Mingus Union tomorrow and hosting Flagstaff at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
