Edmund Eugene Heydorn of Prescott Valley passed away at 8:35 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at YRMC East Campus. He was born July 27, 1923, to Ernest and Nora Francis (Gish) Heydorn of Bridgeport, Ariz.

He was a hard-working man from a young age, helping father Ernest with baking and always bringing in wood and water for the family. The family tended a small farm and even collected and traded honey from their beehives

Edmund went on to work in Jerome, Superior and Bagdad mines. He was good with his hands and learned to operate heavy equipment and drive 18-wheelers. He also helped in constructing Highway 69. Later in life, he was a pilot for oversized loads.

In 1943, the country called and he answered, with an Honorable European Tour. He was a member of U.S. Army 2nd Infantry. He saw many of his friends lost in the invasion of Normandy and was there when France was liberated.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with friends and family, who he always provided for and loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by sons, Michael and Donald Heydorn.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Glenna J. Heydorn; daughter Sherry Heydorn; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins, who love him dearly. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30. 2012, at Heritage Chino Valley Funeral Home, 480 W. Palomino Road, Chino Valley, AZ 86323 with internment at Veterans Cemetery, Prescott, Ariz.

Chino Valley Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.
